Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?

Greg, Lynne and Rockapella Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? began airing in the fall of 1991. It lasted until the fall of 1996 when Where in Time is Carmen Sandiego? took its place.

The series was produced by WQED Pittsburgh and WGBH Boston and featured Greg Lee as the host and Lynne Thigpen as the Chief. During the course of the show, the 3 contestants would engage in a general question round about geography. Sometimes, clues for the questions would be delivered by guest stars or by the group, Rockapella (who also performed the show's theme song).

The game would open with the Chief telling the contestants about the crime and the crook. Then the questions would begin. The first round had multiple choice questions- each having three choices for answers.

Next, the ACME Detective Agency would intercept a phone call between Carmen Sandiego and the thief she sent out to commit the crime. The thieves were as follows:

There would be a question about where Carmen sent the thief.

The general question round ended in the lightning round, when the number of contestants who could move on was cut down to two.

In the next round, the two remaining contestants had to place a memory game in which they had to find- in order- the stolen loot, the warrent and the crook. The first person to do this moved on to the final round.

The final round consisted of the contestant having to identify 7 (later 8) countries in a set amount of time (ranging from 45-60 seconds). The contestant would use poles with sirens on them as markers. The maps the contestant had to run on were: United States, Asia, Africa, South America, and Europe.

If the contestant was able to identify all the countries in time, he or she won a trip to anywhere in the continental United States.
